Applications for the MI TALENT Technical Placement Scheme are invited from:
- Technicians from one of the 8 Midlands Innovation universities or collaborating industry partners.
- Technicians who know the university/industry partner at which they want to have their placement.
- Technicians who do not know the university/industry partner at which they want to have their placement but have identified a particular skill or career development need. In this case the MI TALENT team will seek to place you with an appropriate host.
- Managers who want their staff member/s to learn or experience a particular technique or skill but are unsure where they could go on the placement. In this case the MI TALENT Team will seek to place the applicant with an appropriate host.
Applications are encouraged from the following:
- Technical roles and specialism that are relatively isolated i.e. there may be only one person with that role or responsibility within an institution and staff may benefit from the opportunity to build their network with peers with working in similar disciplines/ supporting similar facilities.
- Early career technicians who would benefit from learning how facilities are supported in other institutions as a part of their career development.
- Technicians wanting to learn about a new or novel research technique or a particular piece of specialist equipment at another institution.
Over the course of the 4-year TALENT project, we will aim to fund 200 applications.
In return for the funding, a short report about the placement and your learning outcomes is required.
Placements can be of up to one week in duration at the following universities/industry partners:
