Training courses: Sign up to Change Management and Difficult Conversations June 2020

The TALENT project team is pleased to provide two online courses, Being Effective When Having Difficult Conversations and Change Management, that are particularly timely given the current situation. Spaces are available separately for each as they are standalone courses, but please do note that you will need to attend both part 1 and 2 for each. Both courses will be delivered in an interactive way online.

Being effective when having difficult conversations - this online webinar session is designed to develop the knowledge and skills of the technicians to add and develop tools in their ‘toolbox’. So that we are better equipped at being effective when having difficult conversations, as technicians that work in the dynamic Higher Education (H.E.) environment. The session covers how to engage in more effective communications, to address important issues and seek to create constructive way(s) forward, and/ or successful outcome(s).

Aims and objectives:

  • Explore different kinds of conversations.
  • Develop skills to undertake difficult conversations.

- active listening / listening ladders

- process = prep / conversation / post conversation

- mutual co-created solutions

- feedback & development conversations

  • Provide an opportunity to network (virtually) and have peer support and learning.

The understanding and coping with change session is designed to develop the knowledge and skills of technicians, to increase understanding of change and help them better cope with change. So that we are better equipped to understand and cope with change, as technicians that work in the dynamic Higher Education (HE) environment.

Aims and objectives:

  • Understand the key concepts, theories, approaches to change.
  • Develop skills to understand, adapt and cope with change.
  • Provide an opportunity to network (virtually) and have peer support and learning.
  • Understand the difference between change & transitions management
  • Things to consider when implementing an effective change programme(s).
  • Identify essential ingredients for successful change.
  • Provide strategies to support yourself through change.
